And sometimes the stories have a happy ending. As a private investigator, we don't always get to see people at their best, so we love a story with a happy ending.
Our client Stephen had been adopted as an infant by a very loving couple that raised him and never hid from him that he had been adopted. Never a doubt in Stephen's mind that he had parents that loved and cared for him, he was still curious about the person who had given birth to him. Who was she? Was it hard for her to let him go as a baby? Was she still alive? Did she want to know who he had turned into?
We got busy working with governmental authorities in Michigan and found that just by a matter of days, Stephen's birth date fell into the category of a "closed adoption" and only a limited amount of information was available. With information provided by Stephen's parents, we continued through the process and petitioned a Michigan Judge for the information. The Judge granted the release of information and with that we had the name of his birth mother. Within an hour, we had her address, telephone numbers and family members. We tried several telephone numbers, but none of them worked so we resorted to contacting her through Facebook and were able to connect Stephen with his biological mother.
Stephen's family has now grown and Beverly has a relationship with the son that she never knew. As I said before, we love happy endings.
